If this is you than Hydrotherapy (water-based therapy) may be perfect for you. Hydrotherapy is a great way to get you back moving and regain confidence to get back to your everyday life. This is not just another aqua aerobics class, here we will work with you, creating a personalised program of water based exercises. This way you are exercising with a purpose.
How does it work?
By utilising the many properties of water such as buoyancy the weight of your body can be decreased by up to 90% making it great as a starting point to beginning retraining strength and mobility, as well as unloading painful joints.
What does it involve?
Initially if you are considering hydrotherapy one of our highly trained physiotherapists will conduct a land based assessment to see if this type of exercise is appropriate for you. Once you have been assessed, and you have become part of our hydrotherapy group, the physiotherapist running the session will work with you to set up an exercise program tailored for your needs as found from the initial assessment. This is a continual process in which the physiotherapist will constantly adjust and change the program as your ability increases.
With our hydrotherapy groups you will require medical clearance from your GP or surgeon to ensure safety while in the pool.
