Our Prostate cancer exercise group is designed specifically for men with prostate cancer.

More specifically those who are undergoing androgen-deprivation therapy (hormone therapy) through Lucrin and Astrazeneca.

But why exercise for prostate cancer?

Well did you know there is now irrefutable evidence from large prospective studies that regular exercise after cancer diagnosis will actually increase cancer survival rates by 50–60%, with the strongest effect for breast, colorectal and prostate cancers. On Top of this exercise has been proven to:

At PhyxYou we have 2 programs for Prostate Cancer:

Man Plan

For men placed on the drug Lucrin, they have two options, they can choose to do face to face exercise via a group class, or a home-based program.

How the face to face program works:

  • One 30 minutes initial session- co-payment $10 to patient
  • 10 x 1-hour group exercise classes- co-payment $5 to patient

The class runs in a circuit style format, under supervision from our highly trained Exercise Physiologist. Exercises ranging from a variety of high intensity, functional, balance and stability, and motor control based exercises. But so you don’t get bored all these exercises change on a monthly basis to keep your enjoyment levels, and physical capacity up.

If you are on androgen-deprivation therapy ask your doctor to see if you are suitable for this class. If you are, get them to write a referral and you are good to go!

PhyxMen

For men placed on the drug Zoladex, we have a group-based program available.

How the group-based program works:

  • 30-minute Initial plus final assessment – $0 co-payment to patient
  • 16 x 1 hour group exercise classes- $0 co-payment to patient
  • Theratubing for home-based program
